Our Hollow Our Home
Our Hollow Our Home weet me sinds het uitbrengen van het debuut Hartsick in 2017 enorm te bekoren met hun aanstekelijke metalcoregeluid. De laatste tijd zorgt de band er tevens voor dat ik aardig in de war raak. Begin 2023 was de volledige bezetting van de band ineens opgestapt en bleef gitarist/componist/zanger Tobias alleen over. Een jaar geleden stond er een compleet nieuwe band die met de single Downpour liet horen dat de band nog altijd up and running was. Tot begin juli van dit jaar Tobias mededeelde dat het doek voor Our Hollow Our Home dan toch gevallen was na tien jaar. En dan ineens is er de nieuwe single Burial Season en kondigt de band doodleuk aan dat het nieuwe album Hope & Hell op 27 september wordt uitgebracht. Ik snap het niet meer. Ik snap wel, en jullie waarschijnlijk ook, dat ik nog wel ga genieten van dit nieuwe, en wellicht laatste album, van de band.
In Hearts Wake
In Hearts Wake komt uit Australië en zetten een vette portie metalcore neer onder de vlag van UNFD. Het zesde album Incarnation is vorige week uitgekomen en de single The Flood kun je daar ook op vinden. Helaas zonder bassist/zanger Kyle Erich die de band heeft verlaten.
Zanger Jake Taylor zegt over het nieuwe album: “INCARNATION is the shadow counterpart and sequel to the band’s debut album DIVINATION, with each song inspired by the meaning and ideals of a particular Major Arcana Tarot card. There are 22 Major Arcana Tarot cards in every deck and 11 tracks on each record, bringing the vision to completion 12 years later”.
“But much like a coin with two sides, cards flipped upside down deliver the reversed meaning” Taylor continues “Polarised in every way, INCARNATION explores the dark underbelly to mirror and stand diametrically opposite to DIVINATION”.
Simone Simons
Vandaag is rood. De kleur van je lippen. Of de kleur van het haar van Simone Simons. Maar zeker de titel van haar nieuwe single R.E.D. afkomstig van haar debuut solo-album. Nou ja, haar debuut solo-album. Het is, misschien wel zeker op R.E.D., dat Arjen Anthony Lucassen zijn stempel overduidelijk heeft gedrukt op het geluid op het album.
Simone en Arjen zeggen over de nieuwe single: “R.E.D. deals with the rise of artificial intelligence, imagining a future where the creation begins to outpace the creator. It reflects on the AI’s growing self-awareness and its unfulfilled desire to experience emotions, something that its synthetic nature makes impossible to ever realize. The song also looks at the double-edged nature of technological advancements and the profound existential questions that are becoming ever more important to address.”
Fleshgod Apocalypse
Het is een tijd stil geweest rond Fleshgod Apocalypse maar de band is terug met het nieuwe album Opera dat op 23 augustus via Nuclear Blast Records zal worden uitgebracht. Een album dat nu al tot de verbeelding spreekt, wanneer je de nieuwe single I Can Never Die beluistert.
Francesco Paoli zegt over het album: “Memory is the strongest force in the universe, as it’s the one and only that can give us immortality. It can’t be deceived or shaped to our liking as, in the end, we are what we do and what we leave to posterity faithfully reflects what kind of men and women we’ve been. Some people don’t give the right value to their actions, focusing on immediate profit, and forgetting that our choices have a decisive impact on our and other people’s existence. Especially when you are an artist. It’s essential to remember that everything we create outlives us, it has a life of its own and, once it’s brought into existence, it belongs to everyone and we have no more control over it.
Death can occur abruptly any time and there’s no chance to change what it’s done, once we’re gone. As far as I’m concerned, one of my first thoughts when I realized that I could have died was “who have I been” and “what am I leaving behind”. I recollected my whole life and figured out how much determination, sacrifice and honesty I’ve put into art and that made me so proud that I would have died in peace.
That’s why we wrote this song, which is nothing but a glorious anthem for all those who commit their existence to art in the purest possible way.“

“‘I Can Never Die’ is the third video created by me and my team, Sanda Movies, in collaboration with Fleshgod Apocalypse, for the Opera cycle. For a song with such a profound and universal meaning—a true anthem to the value of art and the artist—I wanted to contribute to the visual aspect by creating an experimental video, entirely guided by inspiration, lots of different approaches, techniques, and obviously too many of hours of editing. Drawing from the infernal and chaotic masterpieces of Hieronymus Bosch, but ranging through styles and times, the band brings to life infinite, hypothetical paintings. As always, my applause goes to the band, who always give their best, both in the most extreme sets and in those where everything is left to the imagination.”

Black Of My Heart is de titel van het nieuwe album van Rublood. Een Italiaans collectief dat industriële metal combineert met Gothic en alternatieve metal. Black Of My Heart is tevens de titel van de nieuwe video.

Nothing Sacred
Nothing Sacred is één van de Australische pioniers op het gebied van heavy metal in die regio. De band tourt momenteel door Europa en met Leviathan maken ze je alvast een beetje warm. De single is afkomstig van de gelijknamige EP uit 2023.

Signum Regis
Signum Regis heeft een video geschoten bij Ministry Of Truth dat afkomstig is van het laatste album Undivided.
Ronnie König: “‘Ministry of Truth’ is a song written by our guitarist Filip Koluš. I did the lyrics and since the song is so heavy, I immediately thought about linking it to a heavy topic. As the title suggests, it criticizes the people in power who have appropriated the right to be the arbiters of truth. Unlike most of our previous music videos, this one is story-driven and features professional actors. It was done in Brazil and the production looks great. We hope you will like it.”
Smash Atoms
Smash Atoms maakt zich gereed voor de release van het debuutalbum dat in september uitkomt. De eerste single Into The Light laat je kennismaken met deze band die met de muziek teruggaat naar het begin van de jaren negentig.
Screamin’ Lords
Screamin’ Lords is een powerhouse op het gebied van rock en metal. Bring The Hammer Down is de nieuwe single die al op 1 juli uitkwam via Brannick Records. De single is geschreven door Jose Ferro en Richard Frost.

Gaerea
Het vierde album van Gaerea zit eraan te komen. Coma is gepland voor 25 oktober en komt uit via Season Of Mist. Ze maken je alvast blij met Hope Shatters.
