Vandenberg
Vandenberg is terug! Terug aan het front met een nieuwe line-up en met een nieuw album. Het lijkt alsof ze nooit weg zijn geweest, de band rockt als nooit tevoren. Het nieuwe album “2020” komt uit op 29 mei via Mascot Records, een onderdeel van de Mascot Label Group.
Vandenberg. Een naam met een roemrucht verleden. Onder leiding van meestergitarist Adrian Vandenberg bracht het Nederlandse viertal in de jaren ’80 drie kwaliteitsalbums uit, namelijk het titelloze debuut uit 1982 met de hitsingle ‘Burning Heart’, ‘Heading For A Storm’ (’83) met de hitsingle ‘Different Worlds’ en ‘Alibi’ (’85). Ze waren zeer succesvol, zowel commercieel alsook artistiek. De band toerde door de VS, Japan en Europa met o.a. Ozzy Osbourne, KISS, Rush, Scorpions, Michael Schenker.
Adrian heeft zich omringd met een totale nieuwe line-up en heeft als voorproef op de release van het album een video online gezet van Skyfall
Long Distance Calling
Eind vorig jaar sloot Long Distance Calling het tweede decennium af met de liveregistratie Stummfilm (Live In Hamburg). 26 juni komt de band alweer met het nieuwe (en zevende) album How Do We Want To Live? Een bijzondere vraag in deze bijzondere periode. Eind april presenteerden we bij Rockportaal al de video van Hazard. Afgelopen vrijdag werden we verblijf met de video bij de compositie Voices.
Cypecore
Het is toch een tijdje stil geweest rond het Duitse Cypecore. Voor wie de heren nog niet kent is een kleine introductie misschien wel op zijn tijd. Zelf omschrijven ze Cypecore op de volgende manier op hun website: ” Cypecore takes place in the year 2133. After World War III the human race got nearly exterminated by itself. Devastation. Major areas of the earth’s surface are contaminated with radiation. Synthetic bodyparts are absolutely essential for survival. High tech squads are fighting for resources. Cypecore is the incarnation of this apocalyptic scenario. Their soundtrack is brutal, martial but still melodic. Heavy guitar riffs, mechanical double bass parts, unique sounding vocals, electronic elements and cinematic sound settings are the fuel for the Cypecore machinaery.”
Misschien een apocalyptisch toekomstbeeld dat muzikaal wel sterk wordt neergezet. Een week geleden ging de nieuwe video Dreamsmasher in première, een compositie die enerzijds het geluid van de band helemaal in zich heeft maar anderzijds ook weer heel toegankelijk aangeboden wordt.
FlowerLeaf
22 mei komt het debuutalbum Stronger van FlowerLeaf uit. De band komt met de lyricvideo We Will Stand waarop zanger Vivs Takahashi een duet aangaat met Marina La Torraca (Phantom Elite, Exit Eden)
“This a song about not lowering your head to what other people are saying and that together we are stronger”, zegt Vivs. “So it made sense to invite more people to be a part of it and celebrate this message. We are very happy that Nadine Mittmann (Conspiria), Kelly Thans (Pandora’s Key), Baśak Ceber (Dream Ocean), Sara Vanderheyden (Cathubodua) and Aliki Katriou (Eight Lives Down) accepted our invitation”.
Currents
Currents wist in 2017 met het debuutalbum een overtuigend metalcoregeluid neer te zetten. Na de EP I Let The Devil In is het nu tijd voor een tweede volledige album. The Way It Ends zal op 5 juni gelanceerd worden door SharpTone Records en je kunt nu met de video van Monsters alvast in de stemming komen.
“‘Monsters‘ is about taking responsibility for the toxic relationships in your life and using past failures as fuel for the future” zegt zanger Brian Wille. “The track features some different sounds for the band and I’m stoked on the riffs [guitarist] Chris [Wiseman] put together on this one. We hope you enjoy it!”.
