Breek de week met The Halo Effect, Shotgun Facelift, Ben Blutzukker, Breakdown Of Sanity en Last Temptation

The Halo Effect
Dat corona meer kapot maakt dan je lief is, is al duidelijk. Maar er ontstaan gelukkig ook mooie initiatieven zoals vijf oude vrienden die een oud idee tot werkelijkheid brengen. Het resultaat luistert naar The Halo Effect en heeft niet alleen getekend bij Nuclear Blast Records maar staat meteen ook in het voorprogramma van Amon Amarth en Machine Head. We hebben het hier dan ook over een band met nogal wat iconen in huis. Vanuit de Gothenburgscene zetten gitaristen Niclas Engelin (ENGEL)  Jesper Strömblad (CYHRA), zanger Mikael Stanne (DARK TRANQUILLITY), bassist Peter Iwers en drummer Daniel Svensson de tent even op stelten met de debuutsingle Shadowminds.

“We are incredibly excited to unveil this new band with one of the first songs that we wrote together. We felt strongly that this was the right direction for the band. Finding identity, finding a drive and passion is what the song is about and also what this band is about. What drove us to do this in the first place, what obstacles have we overcome in order to fully commit to this lifestyle? It’s about how easy it is to get lost if you lose focus and passion for what you do.
With the video we wanted to convey the emptiness of the city in the early stages of the pandemic and what we saw outside of the studio as we were writing but we also love the cool dystopic imagery so we made the city look even more barren and destroyed. Enjoy!”

Shotgun Facelift
De Amerikaanse groove-metallers van Shotgun Facelift hebben een nieuw album: Dakota Blood Stampede en komt op 7 december uit. Na de video’s bij Bury Me en Suicide Eyes is het nu ‘kuddetellen’ bij de video van 5 Dollar Bastard.

Breakdown Of Sanity
Vanuit Zwitserland daverde vijf jaar geleden Breakdown Of Sanity als een lawine naar beneden met het album Coexistence. Er is ondertussen hard gewerkt en het eerste resultaat vind je in de (audo) video bij Black Smoke.

Ben Blutzukker
Ben Blutzukker is een vaste gast bij Rockportaal omdat hij altijd in zijn (lego)video’s verrassend uit de hoek komt. Dit keer is hij de archieven ingedoken om eruit te komen met de hit Ohne Dich van 36 jaar geleden. Hij heeft samen met der Micha van Planlos er een eigen metaltwist aan gegeven.

Last Temptation
Stronger Than Fate is de nieuwe single van Last Temptation. Met het debuut zette de band meteen goed in en mocht met Dream Theater spelen alsmede op Hellfest. De band rond gitarist Peter Scheithauer en zanger Butcho Vukovic is nu klaar voor de tweede stap. De band heeft een deal gesloten met Crusader Records/Golden Robot Records en zal de komende tijd enige singles uit gaan brengen.

Met bassist Julein Rimaire en drummer Vince Brisach is de line-up compleet. Samen hebben ze voor het album Fuel For My Soul elf nieuwe composities geselecteerd die divers van aard zijn.
“‘I Don’t Wanna Be Your God’, for example, has God addressing mankind to explain that he no longer feels responsible for them due to the alarming way they have been treating each other. He says, ‘Sorry, but I’m giving up’! At our shows, we always pay close attention to what kind of songs go down best with our audience, which is something that Fuel for my Soul definitely benefits from. Our upcoming tours – which will hopefully happen soon – will prove how well the new numbers fit into our live set. I hope we’ll see you when we’re back on tour!”  – Peter Scheithauer
