Bruce Dickinson brengt op 1 december de eerste single uit

Nadat ze in september de rock- en metal wereld al in vuur en vlam hadden gezet met de aankondiging van een aankomend soloalbum en Latijns-Amerikaanse tourdata, worden vandaag verdere details van Bruce Dickinson’s The Mandrake Project onthuld.

De eerste single ‘Afterglow of Ragnarok’ is een dramatisch en episch nummer dat de wereld niet alleen laat kennismaken met de muziek van het album, maar ook met het meeslepende verhaal dat de basis vormt van The Mandrake Project.

Dickinson: “It was important to set the tone of the project with this track. “As befitting its title, it’s a heavy song and there’s a great big riff driving it…but there’s also a real melody in the chorus that displays the light and shade that the rest of the album brings… and just wait until you see the video!”

The Mandrake Project is een duister, volwassen verhaal over macht, misbruik en een strijd om identiteit, tegen de achtergrond van wetenschappelijk en occult genie. De serie, bedacht door Bruce Dickinson, geschreven door Tony Lee en verbluffend geïllustreerd door Staz Johnson voor Z2 Comics, bevat twaalf afleveringen die zijn samengevoegd in drie graphic novels en zullen worden gelanceerd in 2024. Een prequel van acht pagina’s voor The Mandrake Project, getiteld ‘Afterglow Of Ragnarok’, is opgenomen in het vinyl 7” single boekje dat bij de gelijknamige single hoort en de toon zet voor het komende verhaal. De 7” single bevat ook Dickinson’s originele solo-demoversie van het nummer ‘If Eternity Should Fail’, dat voor het eerst verscheen op Iron Maiden’s album The Book Of Souls in 2015.

Meer details over The Mandrake Project zullen worden onthuld wanneer Bruce Dickinson als hoofdspreker verschijnt op de openingsdag van CCXP23, het enorme Comic-Con-evenement van Brazilië in Sao Paulo, op 30 november.

Nadat Bruce Dickinson en zijn waanzinnige band – bestaande uit gitarist Roy Z, drummer Dave Moreno, bassist Tanya O’Callaghan en keyboard maestro Mistheria – al Braziliaanse en Mexicaanse live data hadden aangekondigd voor april en mei volgend jaar, zullen ze hun tour daarna voortzetten met een reeks Europese shows, naast een aantal festivaloptredens in Europa.

Dickinson maakte al eerder bekend: “This album has been a very personal journey for me and I am extremely proud of it. Roy Z and I have been planning, writing and recording it for years, and I am very excited for people to finally hear it. I’m even more excited at the prospect of getting out on the road with this amazing band that we have put together, to be able to bring it to life. As you can see, we’re playing as many shows as we can, in as many places as possible, for as many people as we can!”

The Mandrake Project wordt het zevende soloalbum van Dickinson en zijn eerste sinds Tyranny Of Souls uit 2005. Het zal via BMG wereldwijd op meerdere formaten worden uitgebracht.
