Knight Area naar Willemeen Arnhem

Bij deze show zal Knight Area voor het eerst met de nieuwe leadzanger Jan Willem Ketelaers het podium betreden. Ook zullen voor het eerst een aantal nummers van het nog uit te brengen D-Day album gespeeld worden. Al met al een zeer bijzondere show in Willemeen!
Heavy gitaren, een donderende ritmesectie, vloeiende synths en melodieuze zang, dat is waar het Nederlandse Knight Area voor staat. Opgericht in 2004 door componist/toetsenist Gerben Klazinga is Knight Area middels succesvolle albums en optredens wereldwijd uitgegroeid tot een vaste waarde in symfonisch en (neo-)progressief getinte rock.
Op voorgaande albums werkte de band samen met o.a. Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon, Star One, The Gentle Storm) en Charlotte Wessels (Delain) en sinds het toetreden van gitarist Mark Bogert en bassist Peter Vink (Q65, Finch, Ayreon) heeft de band een hechte line-up gevonden. En die liegt er niet om! Zowel op album als op het podium is de band niet bang hun virtuoze spel te etaleren, maar doet dat altijd in dienst van de song. Na eerdere albums te hebben uitgebracht op het gerenommeerde Amerikaanse Laser’s Edge label, zoekt de band het nu dichter bij huis. De door Joost van den Broek (Epica, After Forever, Wende Snijders) geproduceerde opvolger van het vorige album ‘Hyperdrive’ heet ‘Heaven and Beyond’ en is uitgekomen via Butler Records (Lamb, Anneke van Giersbergen, Ruben Hoeke Band, Donnerwetter). De band bestaat uit Jan Willem Ketelaers (lead zang, keyboard), Gerben Klazinga (keyboards / backing vocals), Mark Bogert (gitaar), Pieter van Hoorn (drums, backing vocals) en Peter Vink (bas).
Sky Architect is a young Rotterdam-based band. You might be inclined to say they play progressive rock music, but they’d prefer you to just listen to their music free of such limitations. As certified architects, they have the technical proficiency to pull off everything they want to perfection, to draw out a flawless design and lay down a firm foundation. Then, instead of filling it in, they keep to the skeletal set-up and let the weather – be it rain, wind or sunshine – rush through it. However hefty the subject tackled, however heavy the sound, the ‘sky’ always maintains a feel of playfulness, an airy breeze keeping things fresh and unexpected. The band is on a mission to prove that progressive rock is not only beautiful, but can also be exciting.
Since the forming of Sky Architect in 2008, three albums (Excavations of the Mind (2010), A Dying Man’s Hymn (2011), A Billion year’s of solitude (2013)) were released to critical acclaim.. Nomad (2016), their fourth effort, marks a new era. The bands versatility is confirmed by tracing the other projects of the band members, which run the gambit from jazz to folk and from pop to metal. In their short history, they have already played on such esteemed festivals as Night of the Prog, Prog Resisté, ProgPower and Terra Incognita, sharing the stage with luminaries such as Dream Theater, Riverside and The Tangent.
