Dream Theater heeft bekend gemaakt dat mede-oprichter en drummer Mike Portnoy weer aan de bezetting van de band is toegevoegd na 13 jaar. De afgelopen dertien jaar heeft drummer Mike Mangini laten zien en horen dat hij perfect paste in het plaatje van Dream Theater en wist met het laatste album zelfs een Grammy in de wacht te slepen.
Mike Portnoy begon Dream Theater in 1985 samen met gitarist Joh Petruci en bassist John Myung. De band zal zeer binnenkort de studio, dus met Mike, ingaan om het zestiende album op te nemen.. Het eerste album voor Portnoy sinds Black Clouds & Silver Linings uit 2009
“I understand Dream Theater’s decision to get Mike Portnoy back at this time,” zegt Mike Mangini. “As was said from Day 1, my place was not to fill all the roles that Mike held in the band.
