Demons & Wizards
21 februari komt het album III van Demons & Wizards uit via Century Media Records. Het project van Hansi Kürsch en Jon Schaffer is een uniek samenspel van deze twee grootheden van Blind Guardian en Iced Earth. Van het album is nu een video van Wolves In Winter beschikbaar
Jon Schaffer zegt erover:
“I’m not sure why the title of this song came to me so strongly when I wrote and arranged the music. But it certainly did. I even put the wolves howling part on the pre-production demo before I had written any lyrics or heard any vocal melodies from Hansi.
It is about embracing the beast that lies within us all. At any rate, it’s a cool song with a big hooky chorus. My favorite part is the verse riff though. It just sounds heavy and intense, and you can’t go wrong with that combination.”
Hansi Kürsch voegt daaraan toe:
“‘Wolves in Winter’ is definitely a tune, you want to hear live and even more than hearing it, you want to sing along with it immediately. Feel free to rehearse in front of your speakers!”

Lucid Dream
Het progressieve collectief Lucid Dream opereert vanuit Italië en brengt op 10 maart het album The Great Dance Of Spirit uit via Sliptrick Records. Om een beeld te krijgen van de muziek van deze band is er nu een lyricvideo van de nieuwe single A Dress Of Light beschikbaar.

Machine Head
Ik heb me wel wat zorgen gemaakt over het voortbestaan van Machine Head toen de complete band afstand nam van Robb Flynn en er in het persoonelijke leven ook het nodige aan de  hand was, maar als een phoenix is hij daar dan toch terug. Of misschien beter gezegd als een boomerang.
De nieuwe single heet Circle The Drain en is geïnspireerd door de vele gebeurtenissen van de afgelopen tijd.
“The song is Inspired by an acquaintance of mine who returned from Afghanistan only to have his relationship fall apart with his girl,” zegt zanger/gitarist Robb Flynn. “She had messed around on him, then got paranoid about him messing around on her, and drove him crazy. We had a conversation on Valentine’s Day and he said to me “they were just circling the drain”… the phrase struck me.  A few days later I incorporated it into the song I’d been working on.
It was a strange parallel with my life at the time, having just had two band members quit, and even more bizarrely two long-time couple friends of my wife and I also divorce. It was break-up season and it played out with friends taking sides, people not being invited to certain events anymore, social and emotional pressure, and all the typical stuff that happens when a relationship goes bad. 
Watching this guy pull through it, helped me pull through my own upheaval. The lyrics to ‘Circle the Drain’ came out of that frustrating time. It’s a sad song about relationships gone bad, but accepting that it’s over, and making yourself move on. I wrote it in a more metaphorical tone, as I didn’t want it to be about my life, but to be about anybody’s life who may be going through a rough time like that. It may not be a song that connects with everyone, especially those in a solid relationship, but if the day ever comes when your life goes awry, this song will be a lifeline for you, something to help pull you up out of that dark place.
The irony that he and I had the original conversation on Valentine’s Day, and are now releasing it on Valentine’s Day isn’t lost on me, it really is the anti-Valentine’s Day song.”
De single is geproduceerd door Robb Flynn zelf met hulp van Zach Ohren (All Shall Perish, Suicide Silene, Machine Head).

Bury Tomorrow
Eerder al hebben we de video van Cannibal van het gelijknamige album van Bury Tomorrow op onze site gezet. De band heeft nu ook een visualiservan de single Choke online gezet. Choke staat eveneens op het album Cannibal dat 3 april wordt uitgebracht.

Psychotic Waltz
Psychotic Waltz bracht met The God-Shaped Void het vijfde album via InsideOut Music uit. US 
Psychotic Waltz:  “Today is a special day for us, the release of our fifth album, and first record in over two decades. It’s crazy to think that 35 years ago, the five of us started playing together in Aslan, which a few years later we re-named Psychotic Waltz. We can’t thank our fans enough for their enormous patience biding their time until the album was done. But the wait is officially over! The album basically picks up where we left off in 1997, with the added benefit of modern technology and perhaps a more mature songwriting perspective. We would also like to give thanks to Jens Bogren for his great job with the mixing and mastering, and Ulrich Wild for his tracking work. It’s definitely our best-sounding album to date, and we can’t forget the amazing work of our longtime collaborator Travis Smith for the outstanding artwork. Turn it up, and enjoy!”
Van het album is de single While The Spiders Spin van een video voorzien. “The third single is “While The Spiders Spin”, which was the first song we played live from the new album, back when we did some shows in 2017. The acoustic intro was added later. Costin once again did a great job capturing the mood of the song, which is a commentary on the impersonal nature of modern society and how our phones and devices only seem to isolate rather than unite us.”

Kreator
Het Duitse Kreator is langzaam Europa aan het veroveren met hun thrashmetal en hebben op Valentijnsdag het livealbum ‘London Apocalypticon – Live at the Roundhouse’ uitgebracht via Nuclear Blast Records. Van deze show kun je nu alvast genieten van de livevideo bij Enemy Of God.

Transport Aerian
Big Heart is de titel van de nieuwe single van Transport Aerian en wordt uitgebracht voor de liefdadigheidsorganisatie Direct Relief. De band is een Belgisch progressief rockproject dat zich heeft ontwikkeld rond de multi-instrumentalist en mastermind Hamlet. In Big Heart hoor je een poëtische reflectie van de afgelopen periode met daarin liefde, progressie en eenvoudigweg mensblijven. Volgens Hamlet zijn dat onderwerpen die niet commercieel uitgebuit moeten worden en doneert daarom ook alle opbrengsten aan Direct Relief. Direct Relief is een humanitaire hulporganisatie die internationaal de missie heeft om de gezondheid en het leven van mensen die getroffen zijn door armoede te verbeteren, zonder hierbij onderscheid te maken in politiek, religie of de mogelijkheid om te kunnen betalen. De single is uitgebracht door Melodic Revolution Records.
