Fleshgod Apocalypse
Death… our inevitable ruin that calls for us sooner or later. Many who are fortunate enough to temporarily escape its fatal clutches experience life altering changes, finding renewed purpose, rejuvenated creative spirit and a reawakening of the soul.
Het geeft de ervaring van frontman Francesco Paoli van Fleshgod Apocalypse min of meer weer nadat hij een tragisch ongeluk meemaakte tijdens het bergbeklimmen. Deze ervaring, die nog jaren herstel vraagt, heeft hem enorm geïnspireerd tot het schrijven van de nieuwe muziek.
Het was dan ook geruime tijd stil rond de band, maar met de nieuwe single Pendulum, de eerste nieuwe muziek sinds het ongeluk, is de band weer terug. Geïnspireerd door de vreselijke gebeurtenis is Pendulum een compositie met een enorme intensiteit en klassieke barokelementen.
Paoli : “This is the first song we release since my ‘dance’ with death, back in August 2021. It’s obvious that such a life changing event would have affected our music. It took a toll on me, physically and mentally, and sharing my experience is also part of my healing process. Pendulum is just the opening chapter of a bigger story, which is yet to be told…”
Over de video zegt Paoli: “The music video, realized by visionary Italian director Martina L. McLean, turned my unfortunate incident into a monumental visual experience, an awe inspiring blend of obscure symbolism, surreal architectures and nightmarish mythological creatures. It perfectly portraits the struggle and the desperation of that day, a day of defeat… but also the day of my rebirth.”
Artificial Language
Het Amerikaanse Artificial Language maakt progressieve metal en heeft zojuist de tweede single Rain Follows van de Distant Glow EP uitgebracht. Een EP die 22 maart op de markt zal liggen.
“‘Rain Follows’ is written from the point of view of an avaricious farmer. Due to his self-interest and belief that rain always follows the plow, the soil is now loose for the wind to lift and fill the air. When confronted by the son, the farmer seeks the son’s compliance for when the community turns on them both.”
Distant Glow wordt omschreven als een complex stuk muziek waarin de grenzen van technisch spel, compositiestructuur en meer wordt verkend. Elementen uit de progmetal zoals Leprous en Haken dit gebruiken worden gecombineerd met het ‘stadiongeluid’ van een band als Muse en de muzikale insteek van Between The Buried And Me.
