Ze hebben het druk bij Frontiers Records. Voor 19 april staan de albums Defiance van Praying Mantis en The Empyrean Equation Of The Long Lost Things van Vanden Plas klaar om uitgebracht te worden. Twee enorm goede bands die in het verleden al hebben mogen bewijzen dat ze weten hoe je muziek kunt maken.
Voor Vanden Plas is het nieuwe album er weer één waar ze grenzen voor hebben verlegd.
“The Sacrilegious Mind Machine is about our lost dreams” – zegt zanger Andy Kuntz. “It´s about that we had give up them at some point of our long journey. We are getting tempted by a dream demon, who´s trying to sell us a tantalizing vision of live as our own vision. In exchange, we give up our true dreams and so the thief of dreams can steal them – and then feeds on our unhappiness and all our broken ideals.”
Over het concept op het album zegt de band het volgende: “The Empyrean Equation Of The Long Lost Things”is a chronicle of different stories that deal with the important and essential things in life. The “important” things that we can’t hold on to – and also the supposedly unimportant little things that we have carelessly forgotten or unhappily lost somewhere along the way”.
Praying Mantis levert met het nieuwe album alweer het dertiende album af in de carrière en viert meteen het 50-jarig bestaan. Op het nieuwe album zijn natuurlijk de oprichters en broers Chris en Tino Troy van de partij. Zij worden bijgestaan door zanger Jaycee Cuijpers, drummer Hans in’t Zandt, en gitarist Andy Burgess.
