De schrik zat er begin dit jaar bij mij wel degelijk in toen bekend werd dat van de metalcoreband Our Hollow, Our Home nagenoeg de complete bezetting uit de boot was gestapt en alleen componist/gitarist/zanger Tobias over was gebleven. De band uit Southampton staat al jarenlang in mijn top 10 van uitstekende metalcorebands.
Al gauw was er een nieuwe bezetting en brak er een nieuw tijdperk voor de (vernieuwde) band aan. Maar wat gaat dat worden, vraag je je dan zelf af. Dat wordt duidelijk met de eerste single Downpour. En mijn angspeil daalt reeds bij de eerste noten. Dit is gewoon OHOH waar het gebleven was, maar dan met andere poppetjes. Natuurlijk zorgt het herkenbare stemgeluid van Tobias ervoor dat het allemaal ook herkenbaar blijft.
Downpour heeft alle elementen van OHOH daarom in zich. Het is scherp, agressief, maar daarnaast heel erg melodieus en de combinatie van de vocalen van Tobias en nieuwe zanger Gaz past uitstekend in het plaatje voor mij.

Given everything that has happened, and the amount of change within the band, it was super Important for us to bring something new to the table as soon as we could. As soon as we wrote Downpour, we knew this was the song to return with straight away. Downpour will be released as a stand-alone single, but rest assured, we’ve already been working very hard on our fourth album, which is sounding wild!
Musically I think this is the best the band has ever sounded. Collaborating with the insanely talented Sky Van Hoff (Rammstein/Sleep Token), has been a game-changer. He’s given our sound a modern twist while keeping our original vibe intact which is something we wanted to set out to do from the start.
