Prachtige nieuwe video's van oa Amorphis, Sabaton, Lifeboats, Lordi, Chimera en Napalm Death

Amorphis
Het nieuwe album Halo van Amorphis is afgelopen week uitgekomen. In de review op onze site kun je lezen wat je mag verwachten. De video bij de single Northwards helpt je hierbij.

Lordi
Met de release van zeven nieuwe albums kan Lordi het komende decennium geregeld even aandacht vragen voor het werk. De video van Demon Supreme is nu uit.

Crossfaith
De metalcore van Crossfaith spreekt al een aantal jaar zeer tot de verbeelding. Voor de nieuwe single Gimme Danger vroegen ze rapper ralph om even aan te schuiven.
Voorman Kenta Koie zegt over de nieuwe single:  “We decided to write new music to heal people and boost their minds. We still can’t play live, but we can deliver new music to our fans and I’m pretty sure that is our role under these circumstances,” he shares, adding that the vocal feature of grime-inspired local rapper ralph brought both an energy, intensity and chemistry to the song.
“On ‘Gimme Danger’ we welcome ralph, an upcoming rapper who has the essence of grime. We feel a real chemistry, and our fans can catch new feelings with it. Those moments where people have a new experience are more important than just making music – we want to achieve something which we haven’t figured out already, so our exploring will keep going.”

Budderside
In aanloop naar het nieuwe album komt Budderside met de single en video Never Worth It. De vorige single Too Far doet het goed in de Rock Billboard top 100 en waarschijnlijk zal de band met deze single ook wel de nodige aandacht krijgen.

Sabaton
De Zweedse metal band Sabaton heeft een uitstekende neus voor bijzondere en onwaarschijnlijke (oorlogs)verhalen. De nieuwe (3e) single ‘The Unkillable Soldier’, die vergezeld wordt door een indrukwekkende video, is daar weer een perfect voorbeeld. Lees hieronder het hele verhaal.
Soms is het verschil tussen moed en waanzin niet te onderscheiden. In de loop van vier oorlogen in zes decennia bewees Adrian Carton De Wiart dat hij de meest “unkillable” soldaat aller tijden was. De in België geboren Britse legerofficier overleefde verschillende vliegtuigcrashes, verloor een oog en een hand, liep elf zware verwondingen op: hij wijdde zijn leven volledig aan militaire diensten. Telkens als er oorlog was, was Adrian Carton De Wiart erbij. “Eerlijk gezegd heb ik genoten van de oorlog“, zei hij, vreedzaam stervend op 83-jarige leeftijd in 1963.
Bassist Pär Sundström: “Het verhaal van Sir Adrian Carton De Wiart vertegenwoordigt Sabaton in veel opzichten. Vooral omdat ook hij nooit opgaf, ondanks hetgeen hem werd aangedaan. We werden echt gegrepen door het leven van dit interessante personage dat ‘enjoyed the war’. Dit nummer is een episch anthem; een eerbetoon aan deze oorlogsheld.”
‘The Unkillable Soldier’ is een voorbode van Sabatons tiende meesterwerk ‘The War To End All Wars’, dat op 4 maart 2022 wordt uitgebracht via Nuclear Blast Records. Opnieuw duikt de Zweedse metal band diep in de gruweldaden, wonderen en gebeurtenissen rond WOI en neemt de luisteraar mee naar een emotionele en opwindende rit van 11 nummers. Eerder bracht Sabaton al de 2 singles ‘Christmas Truce’ en de enorme hit ‘Soldier Of Heaven’ uit.
Sabaton is dit jaar te zien als headliner op Graspop Metal Meeting op zondag 19 juni a.s. als vervanger van Aerosmith. Dit is een exclusieve Benelux show, want de 3 Benelux shows die voor volgende maand gepland stonden, zijn wegens coronamaatregelen tot nader order uitgesteld.

Breathe atlantis

Van het aankomende album Overdrive, dat 18 maart uitkomt, heeft Breathe Atlantis nu de vijfde single Break The Silence uitgebracht.
“In Break The Silence we mercilessly reckon with our past. For us, the song is a catharsis of all the things inside of us that have held us back too many times, and it’s a turning point from stagnation and passivity. In the past we often got in our own way trying to express ourselves and we also let to many people tell us what to do. This has come to an end and the brutality and rawness of the song shows the inner struggle to finally break away from all the bad habits and speak for ourselves”, legt gitarist Jan Euler uit.

Vass-Katsionis
Zanger Billy Vass (Terra 1nc0gnita) en multi-instrumentalist/producer Bob Katsionis hebben de krachten gebundeld en kwamen op 2 februari met het album Ethical Dilemma op de proppen met daarop een fikse portie progressieve powermetal.
Billy Vass:
” It’s definitely a concept album. It didn’t really begin that way. When I began writing the lyrics & melodies, I realised  how the music to every song had a constant”. Therefore, unintentionally, the lyrics started producing their own “constant”. Although the songs are not storytelling through the lyrics, there is one specific theme in all of them. You can get a clearer picture by the album title. This collaboration brought out the best of my vocal &  lyric abilities. I gave it my all, heart &  soul, and I feel this album is transcendent.”
Bob Katsionis:
“I’ve known Billy Vass for over a decade, and I was always amazed by both his vocal timbre and stage presence. By giving me the chance to write music for him, I could go in places I’ve never been before, or at least since 1998 when with playing Progressive metal with my former band, Retrospect. The 90’s progressive metal as it was presented to us by Fates Warning, Queensryche and Conception was our foundation, on which we built our own fortress, the “Ethical Dilemma” album.”

Lifeboats
Frisse newpunk met vleugjes hardcore en nu-metal wordt je gebracht door het Franse Lifeboats die bij de single Cut From The Same Clothes een zeer leuke video hebben geschoten die de aanstekelijke melodieën extra aandikt.

The Human Tornado

It musically represents the swing of moods and the physical and psychological natural consequences of this inner challenge someone may have.”
Heavy groovemetalband The Human Tornado brengt via Rockshots Records het nieuwe album Love is Démodé uit. De opvolger van het debuut Storm In a Ketchup.
Tekstueel is het centrale thema op het album de liefde, één van de sterkste gevoelens die er is. Het heeft diverse aspecten en beperkt zich niet tot alleen personen. But, if it’s pure, this doesn’t matter. The band explains further:

​”For some years this feeling of love has been declining, going out of fashion. In fact, in our society finding people loving what they do is increasingly difficult and often image, power, success are the most important aspects of life. Moreover, these goals are more and more often achieved by means of questionable actions and negative feelings. In this album we want to express our idea of love in particular towards music, showing in every single song even the dark and negative sides coming from love in our life.“​

Napalm Death
Grindcorepionier Napalm Death heeft een mini-album afgeleverd waarop ze aantonen nog altijd toonaangevend te zijn. Hieronder vind je de openingstrack Narcissus en….

Voorman Mark “Barney” Greenway zegt: “You can certainly consider “Resentment Is Always…” as an extension of – or partner recording to – the “Throes…” album. We had long since wanted to put a mini-album out – in the spirit of the old days – and found we had enough quality tracks even after all the “Throes…” bonus tracks to do that. Hopefully this mini holds some nice twists in its own right for people, and certainly covering “People Pie” by Slab! made us really stretch ourselves, which feels great artistically. In the end, resentment is certainly seismic – it can trigger the complete erosion of humanity in many situations. That was the point that I really wanted to hammer home overall
Ghostkid
Ghostkid vinden we eveneens bij Century Media Records. De band die in mei op Headbangers Parade zal verschijnen, komt met de nieuwe single The Sickness.
“Ugly… people are ugly because society only accepts you if you fit into the mold and they will always try to shape you if you don‘t fit the standard”, says GHØSTKID about the brand new track that is available on all digital platforms. “Nowadays it‘s hard to be different… and it‘s even harder to feel happy and free. People will always try to shape you in order to make them feel superior but nobody can tell you what is wrong and what is right when it comes down to your own individuality. This track is dealing with the struggle of being an outsider. You‘ll always be manipulated by others, you will never be accepted the way you are, so just don‘t give a f**k and never let them change you…” 

Chimera
Het heeft zes jaar geduurd, maar Chimera is terug met een nieuw studio-album. Luister alvast naar Madness.

Hate world hero
Inverse Records heeft het Finse Hate World Hero onder de hoede. De band bracht de nieuwe single The Beast Has Awoken uit. Een single waarop je kunt horen dat de band krachtige melodische metal speelt dat stevige refreinen en fraaie wendingen bevat.
