Rise Of The Wood
Stonerrock uit het Westland. Dat is Rise Of The Wood die in 2017 met het album First Seed al te vinden waren op onze site. Inmiddels heeft de band na een korte pauze de draad weer opgepakt met de nieuwe zanger Leo Gstrein, die jaren/decennia geleden mij al wist te raken met zijn bands No Joke en Frezno Falls. De single Sleep is een voorbode voor de EP Sleep.

Everdawn
Everdamn is een female fronted symfonische metalband die op 8 december het album Venera uit zal brengen. Het is het eerste album onder de vlag van Frontiers Records en de opvolger van het album Cleopatra uit 2021. De eerste single Cassiopeia is nu beschikbaar. Over de single zegt de band:
“It’s really fascinating to think about the fine line between confidence and arrogance and who it is that gets to decide when we go too much into the latter. How much of ourselves are we allowed to put on a pedestal? Indeed many of us try to find the balance between self-respect and pride, and this song is all about using the myth of Queen Cassiopeia as an allegory for exploring the fragile relationship between the two. It begs the questions: just how far are we allowed to go when it comes to the belief in our own power, before the world will try to take it away? How far are we willing to go before we lose everything and everyone dear to us for the sake of our pride? Just like Queen Cassiopeia, we must learn from her and reflect upon whether we are willing to reap the consequences of our hurbis— and worse yet, watch as others suffer by that same hand. ‘
Avelion
Meer symfonische progressieve metal kun je terugvinden bij het Italiaanse Avelion, die met de nieuwe single het thema bombast nieuw leven inblaast.
“After the release of our latest single ‘Bound To Blackness’ (June 2022), we consolidated the work done with Rick, our new singer, and this led to the completion of nine new songs.
It has been a long journey, in which we worked a lot, with a very high level of care, not worrying about the modern trend of prioritising quantity over quality. Releasing a new track just to ‘trigger the algorithm’ is not among our priorities. And our producer Simone Mularoni knows this well, as he guided us through the several production phases of the song: some of them were absolutely crazy! Thanks Simo!
This time the so called icing on the cake is the mastering, handled by Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden.
‘Alone In Time’ is a catchy yet multilayered song which shows all the key characteristics of the ‘Avelion sound’.
The concept of the song is the cyclical nature of Time, creator of infinite possibilities and at the same time destroyer of everything.
An infinite loop, like Nietzsche’s Eternal Return, which becomes geometric surrealism, just like the ‘Möbius Strip’ so dear to David Lynch.

Powerwolf
Sinds de oprichting in 2014 is Powerwolf uitgegroeid tot een populaire headliner die menig handjes de lucht in krijgt. Ze lieten afgelopen zomer vriend en vijand in vervoering achter met het gebruik van Augmented Reality door een wolf boven het podium te laten verschijnen. Van het album Interludium is nu Wolves Of War van een video voorzien.
Bring Me The Horizon
Bring Me The Horizon heeft de nieuwe single DArkSide uitgebracht via Sony/RCA. De band had deze zomer een dikke headline show op Download Festival, en is daarna gaan touren. Daarnaast zijn ze bezig om de puntjes op de i zetten voor hun nieuwe studio album ‘’POST HUMAN: NeX Gen’’.
DArkSide is de 5e single die de band heeft uitgebracht. Hiervoor kon je al luisteren naar de tracks ‘’LosT’’, ‘’AmEN!’’, ‘’DiE4u’’ en ‘’sTraNgeRs’’. Deze zijn allemaal onderdeel van de Post Human serie, die in totaal al meer dan 310 miljoen keer gestreamd is.
De BRIT en Grammy-genomineerde, multi-platinum-verkopende Bring Me The Horizon is onderweg om de titel ‘’meest succesvolle rockbands ter wereld’’ te claimen, nu ze meer dan 5 miljoen albums hebben verkocht. Ze hebben meerdere keren de wereld rond getourd, en speelden in meer dan 50 landen uitverkochte shows. Ze zijn een gewilde festival headliner, zo stonden ze afgelopen juni op de mainstage van Download Festival voor meer dan 100 duizend fans. De singles ‘’LosT’’ en ‘’AmEN!’’ zijn recent uitgebracht, onderdeel van de Post Human serie, en volgen de singles ‘’DiE4u’’ en sTraNgeRs’’ die al meer dan 200 miljoen streams hebben gehaald op Spotify. BMTH heeft een splinternieuw album aangekondigd, met de titel ‘’POST HUMAN: NeX Gen’’, datum wordt later bekend gemaakt. Bring Me The Horizon bestaat uit vocalist Oli Sykes, guitarist Lee Malia, bassist Matt Kean, drummer Mat Nicholls, en toetsenist Jordan Fish.
Sonata Arctica
De Nordic Power Metal Titans 2023 tour staat op het punt van beginnen. Een tour waarbij ook Sonata Arctica van de partij is. Samen met Stratovarius en Induction zal de band 24 shows verzorgen. De band werkt momenteel aan het nieuwe album dat begin 2024 via Atomic Fire uitgebracht zal worden. De single First In Line is het eerste wapenfeit dat te horen is op het nieuwe album.
Frontman Tony Kakko : “This is the first power metal song I wrote for the forthcoming album which is laden with them. Its demo title was ‘First In Line’ and I managed to stick with it. The song handles the worry about raising a new generation of people with or rather letting an electronic screen – namely tv, pad or some such – do a big part of raising this generation of human beings. We think that we buy ourselves time with these gadgets, but are these devices the right “nanny” for our kids or should we maybe slow down a bit, read books, teach that happiness can be and often is something we reach by stopping and letting go of constant stimulation of all our audiovisual senses? In ways, we are flying blindly with these things. Things are advancing too fast in many ways…”
Six Burning Knives
Vanuit Itali|ë bewegen we ons naar Spanje, de thuisbasis van Six Burning Knives. Een band die zich niet laat begrenzen en een diversiteit aan metalinvloeden gebruikt in het eigen geluid. Het nieuwe album Oath wordt op 27 oktober uitgebracht via Art Gates Records.
Stone Horns
Het Franse Stone Horns debuteerde in 2018 met het album The Beast Inside. In 2021 bracht de band het tweede album Rise Of Apophis uit en tekende bij Rockshots Records. Het derde album Chimaira is gepland voor 24 januari. Chimaira telt zeven nieuwe composities en verhaalt over een ‘odyssey’ over uitgestoten worden door iedereen en de behoeft om wraak te nemen. “We’re all chasing a chimera, but isn’t it the chimera that’s chasing us? That’s the question this album tries to answer, combining freshness and warmth, violence and peace, waves, and digressions.” adds the band.

Changes happened not only in musical style, but also in their line-up. Returning from the cast of 2016’s Metalcore Superstars were frontman Mika Lahti, singer/guitarist Leevi Luoto and drummer Niko Hyttinen. Additional firepower was provided by new faces Tuukka Ojansivu on guitar and Miska Sipiläinen on bass guitar, as well as the return-to-form of keyboard player Touko Keippilä from the band’s original Panda <3 Penguin line-up.
One Morning Left have played shows with bands including Amaranthe, Machinae Supremacy, Adept, Protest The Hero, Fear Of Domination, Turmion Kätilöt and We Butter The Bread With Butter. The band have also graced the Finnish festival season, playing renowned festivals like Tuska Open Air and Rockfest.
Weightless World
Weightless World staat op het punt om het tweede album Sleepwalker uit te brengen. Vijf singles zijn al eerder uitgebracht en Eye Of A God is de zesde en laatste.
‘’When talking about demos I’ve never been more sure and convinced of the potential of one as Eyes Of A God. The first version however was more melancholic and slower and it was in desperate need of an energy spike to become from something good into something special. So I took the song and by my vision started to arrange the base rhythm into more upbeat and composed a couple new parts to make it richer and more interesting. The result is an epic and a fascinating hybrid of ‘energetic heaviness’ and is still giving me chills when listening to it’’, legt gitarist Valtteri Viinikka uit.
