Het is alweer een jaar geleden dat het Duitse The Very End op de proppen kwam met een nieuwe single. Circle Of Scythe was een single in de vertrouwde traditie van de band. Twee maanden later werd de single The Famine Years uitgebracht. Lekker zwaar en in een vrij traag tempo weet The Very End de luisteraar aan zich te kluisteren.
De band zit midden in het schrijfproces voor de opvolger van Zeitgeist en brengt je een licht gevoelige single met de nieuwe single Solanum. Zo aan het eind van de winter is dit wel welkom.
We blijven in Duitsland met Tobias Sammeths Avantasia. Over twee weken komt het nieuwe album Here Be Dragons uit en de laatste single heet The Witch. Voor deze single leende Tommy Karevik zijn stem en de nieuwe single past qua geluid perfect in het genre dat Avantasia heet.
Sugar Spine laat gelukkig weer van zich horen. De band tekende een deal met Prime Collective en Doomstar Booking en legt de lat met de nieuwe single Burnt Beyond Recognition weer een flink stuk hogere.
Zanger Josh Muncke zegt over de nieuwe compositie:: “The topic of self-image and distrust is something I seem to focus on a lot, and ‘Burnt Beyond Recognition’ really highlights that. It’s about the gut feeling that things are going to go wrong, whether it’s in a relationship or your job, because of how negatively you feel about yourself, and what you think you deserve.”
Wanneer we ons toch in de metalcorehoek bevinden, kun je meteen geieten van de nieuwe single No Connections van Dissociated. Het is de titeltrack van de nieuwe aankomende EP, die op 16 mei uitgebracht gaat worden door Art Gates Records.

In aanloop naar het nieuwe album Sleepless Empire bracht Lacuna Coil een video uit bij de single I Wish You Were Dead. Gewoon om de tijd te ‘doden’.

Sleepless Empire is het tiende album en kwam op Valentijnsdag uit via Century Media Records.
