When we started playing this song at rehearsals, we realised that it might be a bit too much 🙂 Not only will it offend true progressive rock fans, but it will also be a blow to the heart of fans of melancholia and depth in our music. Those fans for whom the benchmark is “Second Life Syndrome”, the best and most substantial Riverside release ever (and we’re not saying it isn’t so :)) What is this anyway? A punk-pop fusion of Rush and The Police? Where the hell is Riverside in it? “I’m trying to listen to this song and I’m not feeling the emotions,” one might say. “Nice, but in one ear and out the other,” someone else will add. And there will be the gracious ones, “I’m not convinced but I’LL GIVE THEM A CHANCE.” 🙂

Self-awareness and another moral dilemma. Leave it to us or consider our fans’ reactions, and so remain in the bubble? Bend to the algorithm or take a risk?
The new album “ID.Entity” is talking about how we are perceived by others and how we should keep our identities and stick to being ourselves. How unrewarding all the cages, drawers and habits can be. One of the songs, “The Place Where I Belong”, talks about how each of us has a certain frame in which others want to see us. How it’s acceptable to be moving around only within that frame, otherwise we risk causing discomfort in others. The question is: what’s more important, to be true to yourself or to keep others comfortable?
And so we finished playing the song, we’re looking at each other and laughing. Has the dam of sorrow, darkness and mourning finally broken? Yes. With this song we are finally drawing the line and leaving all that in the past. We were already really tired of it. Fuck it. We don’t care what some will think, let’s do it, let’s have fun with it. What do we have to lose? Career? :))
”Self-Aware” is a song for us, for our fans, and for our Riverside family. We live in such shitty, dangerous, bad times, we are so divided, forced to accept others’ opinions on what’s right and what’s wrong, that on the new album we decided to finally rebel a little. In a few ways. But most of all, convey two main messages: firstly, without a united community, without cooperation and coexistence, we will not get too far. Secondly, without being true to ourselves, we won’t be able to make our own decisions.
“ID.Entity” is our most progressive and most exuberant album since ADHD. We said it once and it wasn’t a lie. But it is not an album like ADHD. “ID.Entity” marks the beginning of a new chapter in our career, in which we return to the old style a little, but not completely. Besides, the opening and closing tracks are the most controversial songs we’ve recorded. And in their full album versions, they sound even more powerful, as if they were recorded live.
So thanks again to all of you who accept us the way we are and the way you can see us in our new video. And If you didn’t know us from this side – well, nice to meet you 🙂

Evenline

Transatlantic
De progsupergroup rond Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Roine Stolt en Pete Trewavas heeft aangekondigd dat het livealbum The Final Flight: Live at L’Olympia op 17 februari uitgebracht wordt. De show is gefilmd tijdens de laatste show van hun 2022 tour.

Layers Of Devotion

“Layers stands for the different persons and instruments in the music. Devotion stands for the enthusiasm and the passion of making music”.

“The song describes the nightlife of a modern common person. People fill a void in themselves by using alcohol or other substances in the belief that they increase self confidence at the moment, but they create a sort of addiction in which you need that “boost” to be able to do certain actions” explain the band “At the beginning the song was wrote in rehearsal room, cause we wanted to express ourselves with an old style of composition where everyone could actively participate with their own ideas. The track Is full of prog/djent vibes like polyrhythms, heavy breakdowns and also clean parts. The video wants to express the mood of the artwork. The idea was to use the yellow and blue as single colours for our two characters at the beginning of the video and then mix the colours together to obtain the green, which only the girl uses on herself. The mixed colour in the glass wants to represent the mix of substances like alcohol and else that people sometimes use to boost their feelings and status. At the end of the video the girl remains alone with nothing. That want to represent the void that those substances leave to the people when the effects are gone. With this modus operandi and this sound we want to express many feelings. Maybe an album with a significant phrase on would help our listeners to avoid any kind of uneasiness…”.

Once In A While

De band zegt over de nieuwe single: “The concept of our new single ‘Catharsis’ has its roots in the process of catharsis, which is the necessary path to free the human soul from painful and traumatizing experiences. Once In A While songs have always focused on the nuances of the human beings and their emotions. We try to provide the listener with a non-trivial view of these topics and to leave him free to interpret our texts. The song embodies all the typical aspects of our composing technique as well as a varied structure. Aggressive riffs are accompanied by melodic parts and emotional choruses, which end up into a breakdown and a truly intense finale. This sound is combined with a modern production and classic orchestrations. Our first release ‘Earthfall’ became really popular in our music scene, so we worked hard and we will continue to do, to offer our listeners a new and more curated product. For us, the release of a new work represents the closing of a circle, but in a drawing that we have just begun to sketch. Stay Once”.

Your Ex And I
De vijf heren van Your Ex And I halen het beste in elkaar naar boven. Het is een voorbeeld van muzikale chemie en dat laten ze horen met de debuutsingle For All The Loves.

Frontman/toetsenist Danny zegt hierover: “We are not kids dreaming in technicolor. We came together with the right people and the right vibe, so it was ‘let’s all have fun with this.

“When we started jamming and rehearsing around 2018. We weren’t planning an album, but the more we worked together, the more people heard our tunes and said, ‘Guys, you have to release this.’

A404A

Caleb Bingham (Athanasia) – Vocals, Rhythm Guitars & Lead Guitars

Katatonia

“We hereby present you our new single and the opening track of Sky Void of Stars – ‘Austerity’. Energetic and dark, stern and disenchanted. Enjoy.”

“Our 12th album, Sky Void of Stars, is a dynamic journey through vibrant darkness. Born out of yearning for what was lost and not found, the very peripheries of the unreachable, but composed and condensed into human form and presented as sounds and words true to the KATATONIA signum. No stars here, just violent rain.”
